January’s Flavor of the Month at Baskin-Robbins is a very interesting one that ties in with all the awards shows that have happened like the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the upcoming Oscars in March. Movie Theater Popcorn is the latest of the 31 flavors at Baskin-Robbins.

I was actually told about this flavor by a co-worker and friend of mine and it sounded pretty good. Also, my favorite Jelly Belly flavor ever is Buttered Popcorn (Get over it!), so I had to give it a shot and on Saturday I went to my local Baskin-Robbins location and ordered a double scoop of this new flavor in a waffle cone,which by the way is how ice cream should be ordered, am I right? Yes? It would’ve been cool if they served them in that cup you see in the picture,though.

While the ice cream itself does not contain any popcorn pieces, the rice puffed pieces that act as popcorn may fool you into thinking otherwise. I know I mistook it for actual popcorn and appearances can be deceiving. Combined with the caramel swirl and the salty taste of the ice cream, I thought it was pretty good. While it was a very tasty flavor, it didn’t pack the punch that I thought it would. It’s definitely one I think you should try,though.

Movie Theater Popcorn ice cream will be available during the month of January at your local Baskin-Robbins.
