Before Saturday, I hadn’t been to the movies in a while,so my brother and our friend Nick went to go see Jurassic World, the fourth film in the Jurassic Park series of films. Since we as kids once had a little version of Jurassic Park in Nick’s backyard, we thought we would see the film together. It stars Chris Pratt,Bryce Dallas Howard,Vincent D’ Onofrio,Jake Johnson and many more.

The film takes place in present day where 22 years after the Isla Nublar incident, the new park,Jurassic World, is placed in the same spot where the old one was. Brother Zack and Gray Mitchell of Madison,Wisc. are to go to the park to visit with their aunt, Claire Dearing (Howard),the park’s operations manager,who they haven’t seen in a long time. Claire leaves them in the care of her assistant while she is busy with work.

Citing a need to generate more visitors to the park and to keep things fresh, the park is planning to introduce a new,genetically modified dinosaur called Indominus Rex. The park’s owner, Simon Masrani, want the park’s Velociraptor trainer, Owen Grady (Pratt), to look for vulnerabilities in the dinosaur’s closure.

Meanwhile, Zack and Gray have left Claire’s assistant behind and have gone to explore the park on their own. Claire goes to Owen’s house to talk him into the assignment given by Masrani. Reluctantly,he agrees.

Upon arriving at the animal’s paddock, it looks as if the animal has scaled the wall and escaped. Owen and two other workers go inside to inspect the enclosure and it turns out the Indominus has faked her escape,proving that the lab made this dinosaur a highly intelligent one. Both workers are eaten and Owen hides under a truck, cutting the fuel hose and dousing himself in gasoline to throw off his own scent so he doesn’t get eaten by the dinosaur.

The park is ordered to be evacuated and the northern part of the island is shut down. Meanwhile,Zach and Gray are riding the Gyrosphere attraction and when they are ordered to go back to the start of the ride, they decide to go off on an adventure and soon enough are tracked by the Indominus. The Indominus attacks the two children,but they are able to escape by jumping from a waterfall. Upon discovering that a Gyrosphere car went off course,Claire and Owen go to search for the two.

Zach and Gray stumple upon the old visitor’s center from Jurassic Park and find a 1992 Jeep which they are able to repair and drive over to Main Street. Meanwhile, Masrani and two soldiers fly after the Indominus in his helicopter as she breaks into the aviary,freeing all the pterosaurs inside. The helicopter then crashes into the aviary killing all aboard.

As Zack and Gray arrive at Main Street, park visitors are attacked by the pterosaurs. Claire’s assistant,Zara,finds them,but is soon grabbed by a Pteranodon and dropped into the water where a Mossasaurus eats her. Claire and Owen soon find the boys and are reunited.

Vic Hoskins (D’Onofrio), the head on inGen security, then takes over Jurassic World and orders that the Velociraptors go after the Indominus to kill her. Reluctantly,Owen agrees. Owen and an army of inGen soldiers launch an attack on the Indominus. However,it’s discovered that the Indominus is part raptor and is able to turn the Velociraptors against the inGen team,killing most of them.

After returning to Main Street, Owen,Claire,Zack and Gray find Hoskins packing up the laboratory,telling the four that he plans to turn the Indominus into a weapon. A velociraptor soon appears and kills him. Realizing the raptors are outmatched when the Indominus eats them, Claire orders Lowery Cruthers (Jake Johnson), the park’s tech-savvy operator, to open the Tyrannosaurus paddock and let her out in an attempt to lure her into fighting the Indominus. When it apppears the T-Rex is overpowered by the Indominus, one of the velociraptors,Blue,appears to help out in the fight. Both the raptor and T-Rex force the Indominus into the lagoon where the Mossasaurus leaps out and devours the Indominus.

All the survivors were evacuated to Costa Rica where Zach and Gray are reunited with their parents. Owen and Claire decide to stay together,indicating that they are now in a relationship. On the island, the T-Rex lets out a big roar as she surveys the damaged park. The movie ends.

I thought the movie was great despite not having seen Jurassic Park III. Though I like my Jurassic Park movies with Jeff Goldblum, this cast was a very good one and I thought Jake Johnson’s role as Lowery provided a lot of comic relief from his character. I thought that like the movie’s plot itself,Jurassic World reinvented itself and holds its own in the film series. It may very well be the second best movie in the series behind of course the original. I also liked the tie-ins between this movie and the first one, like the old Jeeps and Lowery wearing the Jurassic Park T-Shirt to Claire’s dismay. If you’re looking for a cool summer blockbuster to go see, this one’s a good one.

By the way, Bryce Dallas Howard is a very attractive woman,just saying!
