Things Everybody Else Loves That I Hate-Mismatching Socks

socksthatdontmatchOkay, maybe I am just getting older and am not able to identify with the latest trends and fads of today, but this one baffles me. I don’t know how this started, or where it started, or who even started it, but somehow wearing socks that don’t match is cool.

When I was a kid if you were wearing socks that did not match, you got picked on and teased. You were by no-means cool…at all. I guess times have changed.

I have been seeing this going on now for close to a year and nobody has provided me with an answer of legitimacy that my 31-year-old brain can wrap around as to why this is cool. I’ll be honest, I think the trend was born out of laziness. The same laziness that college kids exhibit when they decline to get themselves dressed in the morning for a 7:30 a.m. class (if this is you, I hope to God you don’t dress this way at job interviews or weddings. Yikes!).

I find it hard to believe that it is this hard to find a matching blue sock if you have a blue sock in your hand. Pairing it with a yellow sock says to me you have put no thought into what you’re doing or even how you are looking. I understand that sometimes we end up missing socks, at my house, it is almost a normalcy. But I still do my due dilligence and try to find the other sock if I have one in my hand, and about 95-percent of the time, I succeed. If I can take some effort to find a pair of socks that match before I go to work, chances are you can, too.

Am I being the jackass who wants to wants to turn the R around on the Toys R Us sign? Yeah.probably, but it is for good reason. I rant because I care, and you should, too!
