I don’t see eye to eye with Kobe Bryant often, but in the case of David Stern wanting an age limit for Team USA Basketball, I totally do.

Stern has floated the idea of having Team USA be a team with players younger than 23. Bryant has come out publicly and called the idea “stupid”.

“It’s a stupid idea,” Bryant said, “It should be a (player’s) choice.”

Bryant also went on to say he and his Team USA teammates have discussed how dumb and absurd the idea is. He’s absolutely right. Why should there be an age limit to play for and represent your country in the Olympics? I think if a player is willing to play for Team USA and shows it, they should get to play. Not only that but I think a team with nothing but players 23 and under will get boatraced by the grown men playing for other countries.

Personally,it is great to see players showing interest in representing Team USA again after so many in the past took a pass on it simply because they didn’t want to.

It is just a bad idea by Stern and I know it will never come to life.

Speaking of more bad ideas coming from professional basketball, the NBA and its board of governors are close to approving advertisements on uniforms beginning in the 2013-14 season. It would be the first major professional sports league in the United States to allow advertisements on team uniforms. If approved, the ad would be 2 1/2″ by 2 1/2″ (akin to the NBA Finals logos you see on uniforms).

I don’t know about you,but I do NOT want to see advertisements on sports jerseys in this country. Ever. This shit may fly in other countries, but I don’t think the team uniform is as sacred as it is here.

This is a bad idea. The NBA, its teams, and even its venues do a good enough job advertising already. There really is no need for this to happen on the uniform. Many feel the uniform should be sacred and not have any advertisements sully it whatsoever. I can only hope there is a big enough uproar to make this idea a short-lived one.

If the Washington Nationals are going to remain in contention for the National League East title and the franchise’s first playoff berth since 1981 (when they were the Montreal Expos), they need to let Stephen Strasburg do his thing.

I understand, you don’t want to overwork him, but it’s clear that he wants to pitch and help this team get to where it hasn’t been since even before I was born (and that was a really,really,really long time ago). I don’t see how shutting him down all of a sudden is going to help the Nationals when/if they reach the postseason. If anything, this may hurt their chances of playing some extra October baseball and if I am a Braves or Mets fan, I have to be liking my teams chances the more Strasburg pitches to possibly take the division lead and possibly the division championship.

In case people are wondering, yes, I am aware of what is happening in State College,Penn. and the inevitable punishment that came Penn State’s way today.

The reason I haven’t written about it is because it is a hard situation to write about and I just don’t know how to say what I feel about it because I don’t really know one way or the other.

If you don’t know, Penn State received a $60 million fine, a four year bowl ban, vacated 111 wins dating back to 1998-2011, lost scholarships, and players can transfer to other schools immediately.

I think Jerry Sandusky is a certified nut case who should have been stopped a lot earlier,but how I feel about the Paterno statue being removed and what has been happening lately is another story. I’m not saying I don’t care about the story, I’m just indifferent to it myself. What am I supposed to say? I really don’t know. It seems like everyone who has reported or written about this story has said everything that needs to be said without me really needing to say anything.

Set your DVRs for 630pm (here locally on FOX 40) because what is possibly the funniest episode of Seinfeld that ever aired will be airing again…the Soup Nazi episode.

I am a big Seinfeld fan and watched the show during its initial run in the 1990s and The Soup Nazi episode is by far my favorite. The idea that a soup chef running a dictatorial soup kitchen is downright funny. Not only that, it kinda makes you hungry for some soup. Like when George orders the Turkey Chili (and forgot to ask for bread) or when Newman gets the Jambalaya. It is very enjoyable for me and it’s one of the many reasons why Seinfeld is the greatest television series in the history of television and I will fight anyone who feels otherwise.
