The Denver Nuggets unveiled their new logo and uniforms on Tuesday, ending the era of sky blue, navy blue, and gold that was first born in 2003. The new colors are old colors of sorts, similar to the colors they wore from 1994-03.
The new primary logo is the team’s former secondary logo with the pickaxe, the mountain peak and a basketball in the new team colors of navy blue, gold, and dark red and is placed in a roundel with the team name.
One secondary logo features a navy blue basketball and pickaxe and another features an update to the famous Denver Nuggets’ skyline logo which was used from 1981-93. It features a gold basketball above a red mountain with the Denver skyline in the foreground.
But the new logos weren’t the only thing unveiled, they also unveiled three of their four new uniforms (the fourth is to be unveiled later this fall). The white uniform is trimmed in navy and gold on the jersey with Nuggets in red and the numerals in navy. The player name is also in red. The shorts have a mountain shape on the side trimmed in navy with the team logo on it. The navy uniform is trimmed in white on the jersey with Denver in gold and the numerals in navy. The player name is also in gold. The shorts have the mountain on the side with white trim and the team logo on it as well. The alternate uniform is a lighter shade of blue with the words Mile High CIty arched around the gold player numerals. The jersey is trimmed with a red collar and the shorts have a navy blue mountain on the sides. The name on the back of the jersey is in white.
“The Nuggets new brand identity is designed to reflect the dynamic and creative city that we call home, the new look mirrors this exciting era of Nuggets basketball, said Declan J. Bolger KSE Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “We are looking forward to incorporating the new logos and uniforms into what will be an exciting 2018-19 season.”
Okay,at first I wanted to hate this overall change because quite frankly,I liked the team’s color scheme they had. It made you think of winter and it made you think of a cold place like Denver. However, with so many different things coming back from the ’90s into this decade, it makes a lot of sense for a bold color scheme to return like this one. Beyond that, the team did a great job with making the secondary logo the primary one and the uniforms look excellent.
The Nuggets get a well-deserved Thumbs Up!
