Paul George’s departure isn’t the only thing that’s new about the Indiana Pacers. On Friday, the team unveiled their new alternate logos and the new uniforms they’ll be wearing beginning next season and beyond.
Complimenting the long-standing Pacers’ blue P logo are two new alternate logos. The first one, dubbed the “state icon” logo is a blue state of Indiana logo with the basketball from the primary logo on the top with a star below to denote Indianapolis, the Pacers’ home city.
The other secondary logo is a seal logo commemorating the state’s farming history and basketball heritage. The roundel around the seal has 19 stars as the state was the 19th to be admitted to the union in 1816. It also says “Indiana” and “We Grow Basketball Here” and the year 1894,which is when the first basketball game in the state took place. The image inside the roundel is a blue basketball in a blue field that represents farmland.
On to the uniforms…
Now I should mention that there are no designated home or road uniforms,so we’ll just mention them by color now,I guess. I don’t know.
There are two uniforms, the white uniform has the team name in blue arching the blue numeral in front. The player name is on the back in blue in a semi-arch around the blue numeral. The stripe pattern consists of alternating blue and gold stripes on the side of the jersey and shorts with the Pacers’ P logo on the side of the shorts on each side.

From left to right: T.J. Leaf, Lance Stephenson,Ike Anigbogu,Myles Turner, and Glenn Robinson III model the Pacers’ new threads at a team event.
The blue uniform is just about the same, but with the team name in gold arching the gold numeral in front. The numeral on the back is gold with the player name semi-arched in gold as well. The stripe pattern is the same as the white uniform and the Pacers’ P logo appears at the bottom of the shorts.
I like the state icon logo very much,I think it’s a nice addition, the seal logo I can take or leave, though. The uniforms, while early reviews are mixed, are actually pretty nice in my opinion. The previous uniforms (dating back to 2005) were kind of boring to me and were honestly a step down from what they were wearing in the past. These are actually an upgrade to me and I think they’ll look great once fans see them on the court.
Thumbs Up!
