For over 30 years, the Los Angeles Clippers had the same logo that for forever was identifiable with the team, throughout good times and bad (mostly bad), the logo did get a tweak in 2010,but overall, it was good logo.
On Thursday the Clippers decided to go the other way and introduced their new logo. Gone is the white basketball look and in is the word CLIPPERS in black with a different white basketball with LAC jumbled together above the wordmark in what looks like a whole bunch of nothing if you ask me. Under the wordmark are two arched red and blue lines.
The uniforms were also unveiled on Thursday. The home white jersey has the black Clippers wordmark with a red numeral trimmed in blue. Red and blue trim is around the neck and on the sides. The away jersey is red with the LAC secondary logo to the left of the numeral which is white with blue trim. The neck is trimmed in white and blue with the same colors on the sides.
Honestly, the new look is so ugly and uninspired, unless you count the EA Sports video games as inspiration. Their previous look was a much better logo and the uniforms were great, too. This is not better at all. What the hell did the team use to make these? Microsoft Paint?
I understand that the team is trying to move away from the Donald Sterling era, but they could’ve done much better,or they could’ve done nothing at all. I think the latter would’ve been just fine.
Thumbs Down!
