Reviewing the New Charlotte Hornets Uniforms

As you may know, the Charlotte Bobcats are now the Charlotte Hornets. Earlier today, the re-born swarm unveiled their new uniforms that the team will be wearing. The new uniforms were designed in conjunction with team owner Michael Jordan’s own brand, although Adidas will produce the uniforms as they are the league’s uniform provider.

If any fans are expecting the old school pinstripes look that the team wore the first time around in Charlotte, it won’t happen. Those uniforms are part of the league’s Hardwood Classics program. But pinstripes do run down the side of the uniform, probably to appease the fans who were expecting those to be the main part of the uniform.

The home uniform is white with a teal “Hornets” wordmark and purple numerals, the road jersey will be purple with the “Hornets”wordmark in white with teal HornetsUnis2numerals. There is an alternate uniform in teal that the team will be allowed to wear 16-20 games per year, divided between home and road. Those uniforms have a “Charlotte” wordmark and purple numerals. The team’s previous uniforms in Charlotte all had the city name as the wordmark in place of the team name.

Fans can pre-order the authentic jersey beginning in August, while the two other styles of replicas will be available in team shop and online in September.

I actually really like these. I know fans were expecting an update with a retro twist, but these uniforms are exceptional. I think they will look great on the court and fans will grow to like them even if they don’t right now. Believe it or not, I was expecting these to be worse and was expecting some sort of sleeved jersey, but with LeBron James bitching about how bad they are, the Hornets probably went another way with them. Good job, Hornets, and welcome back!

Thumbs Up!
