Ask T.J. Anything- June 11,2010

What do you think for that whole blown perfect game thing?

This was asked on Friday late, but I’ve had many thoughts about it. I thought it was a bad call and unfortunate that Mr. Galarraga did not get the perfect game he earned. I do think that someday it may get overturned, but not now. I think that Jim Joyce and Armando Galarraga have handled the whole thing beautifully and the story has had a happy ending with Galarraga presenting the line-up card to Joyce on Thursday and GM presenting him with a Corvette,so this sad situation has had a happy ending.

What 3 things do you think will become obsolete in the next ten years?

Newspapers, sitcoms, and courtesy clerks.

If you had the opportunity to live one year of your life over again, which year would you choose?

2007!

What’s your favorite city?

I always look forward to going to San Francisco. It’s always a nice visit when I go.

If you could be on the cover of any magazine, which would you choose?

Oprah’s magazine.

If you could ask George W. Bush one question what would it be?

Can you spell chrysanthemum?

Would you ever get plastic surgery?

I don’t think I would unless it was absolutely necessary. I hate having surgery as it is with the hernia I had last year. But if I had to have it because it was necessary for me to go on with life, then I would.

Julie Andrews sang a song about her favorite things in the Sound of Music…..what are your favorite things?

My favorite things are sports, my friends,my family, grubbin’ down, and the color orange.

Do you have a voice in your head that tells you what to do?

Sometimes, but often times it’s a voice telling me what NOT to do.

How Many games do u want this NBA finals to stretch out for?

Let’s go 7.

If you were going to Las Vegas what what you do first? Gamble? Club? Pool? Show? Rides?

I have never been there, but I would visit a couple slot machines and the roulette table. I LOVE the roulette table.

What is the one thing you always wanted for Christmas but never got?

That’s hard to say because I get a lot of great presents for Christmas. The last few years I’ve hardly wanted anything because it’s starting to become Giftmas and less about the time to celebrate the loved ones and friends you have in your life and what you have already in your life. All things considered, we have it pretty good here.

Barring bad drivers, what are three of your biggest pet peeves?

The great Ashley Freitas just brought this one up, and it’s Parents Putting Kids on Leashes, I think it’s wrong,I think it’s considered as treating a child like an animal and that’s just awful.
Another one would be People Who Talk on the Phone at the Checkstand. I’ve been in this industry for four years and there’s nothing I hate that customers do more than this. I do know the way to get them off the phone and that’s to talk to the courtesy clerk and once they see you’ve ignored them as they’ve done to you, they’ll get off the phone.
And I think one more would be when people wear pajamas to school. It says to me that that person is lazy and not worth my time.

Hypothetically speaking, your child wants to name your grandkid an AWFUL name. How do you respond?

I’d ask the reason why because there’s probably a sentimental reason behind it,but also if it’s a name like “Apple” or “Dingus” or whatever, I’d say try again and pick something else.

When I was a kid I could eat the same thing for dinner every night and would be a happy kid. What was the one thing you wanted for dinner every night?

I wish I could remember. I just asked my Mom and she doesn’t know, either.

If you could do one thing today to make the world a better place, what would it be?

If I had the power to do this,I’d make sure that everybody who needed help medically thhat they got it. Everybody should be able to see a doctor, sick or well, rich or poor. I think that’s the thing that has been lost during the whole health care debate. I think that’s the point that hasn’t gotten across to anyone, on both sides. Even I’ve been skittish about doing so because I’m scared of how much is going to cost me. I’d get all the medical help I wanted if I could afford it,and so would many other people. I think that’s one thing I would love to do to help this great world of ours.

Are you a spelling and grammar Nazi? Do you hate it when people type in text speak or just spell bad?

It’s both. I don’t like when people spell words poorly that shouldn’t be. I also hate when people talk in text speak. I don’t do that,I write almost everything out,I’m a journalism major,it’s a hard habit to break.

I am a woman who has been told I have too many shoes. What do you have too much of?

I also have too many shoes for a guy. I at one point had about 20 pairs,I now have about 11 or 12.

Read any good books?

Not lately, but I have read many good books. Tedy Bruschi’s book about his stroke and his recovery was a great read and very inspirational to me.

Television show-wise….what is your guilty pleasure?

I’m usually pretty open about what I watch. I would probably say whenever they have Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. I like Dr. Drew,if I was having a drug problem,I’d secure his help ASAP. However,it does get hard to watch whenever the celebrity has a seizure because of how hard it hits close to home.

Hey,we’ve been getting some great questions on here, I answer them every Friday,if you have one for me,send it via my Formspring , and we’ll answer them there, and here. I’ll see ya!
