A few months back,we reviewed the new logo for the Minnesota Timberwolves and since then everybody has been wondering what the uniforms Karl-Anthony Towns,Andrew Wiggins, and Jimmy Butler will be wearing will look like. Thursday was when we got our answer as the team unveiled their new uniforms for this season and beyond.
It’s a far different uniform than we’ve seen the team wear in years past, that’s for sure.
The home uniform is white with alternating blue stripes (navy and royal) on the shoulders of the jersey with the word WOLVES below in navy with royal blue numerals outlined in navy. The shorts have alternating royal and navy striping with the team’s primary logo on the right side with a touch of lime green at the bottom below the logo.
The away set is navy blue with alternating white and royal blue stripes on the shoulders of the jersey with the word MINNESOTA below in white with white numerals outlined in royal blue. The shorts have alternating royal and white striping with the team’s primary logo on the right side with a touch of lime green at the bottom below the logo. In between the stripes on each jersey is the team sponsor,Fitbit.
I’m honestly not feeling these as much as thought I would. There are things I like on them, for instance, the striping on the bottom of the shorts is nice on each set. Well done,in my opinion. I also like the numerals on them, too. However, for a team whose logo has splashes of green on it,they really didn’t place very much green on it at all. I also think they stole the shoulder stripe idea from the Washington Wizards a little. I also think that aspect of the uniform looks a little too much like an English Premier Soccer league’s uniform, but without sleeves.
I understand the simplicity of the uniforms, especially considering that their uniforms in the past have looked very busy and extremely colorful, but they look like they’re too simple and with the lack of green on them,it looks glaringly missing.
I think the Wolves should go back to the design room and tack on some green somewhere. This is not what a team who is on the brink of their first playoff birth in 13 years should be dressed like.
Thumbs Down!
