It’s great to have the actual officials back in the NFL.
I have to say it was great to see that the crowds at the various Week Four home games gave them ovations before the games. It’s something I’ve never ever seen in sports in my lifetime. Usually officials are the most hated people in the games, but in the case of the NFL, it was proven that these men, who are not perfect in any sense of the imagination, are the best at their craft at that level of professional sports officiating.
I hope the NFL has learned their lesson that you can’t pluck guys who were fired from the Lingerie Football League and give them jobs as officials just so they can cross that off their bucket lists. I truly hope we never have a situation like this again in any league.
The Jets got boatraced by the San Francisco 49ers 34-0 on Sunday, and it doesn’t matter who the quarterback was in that game.
The 49ers got hit in the mouth by an upstart Vikings team and needed to make a statement that they are not a team to mess with. Though Alex Smith didn’t throw for very many yards, the 49ers ran the ball down the throat of the Jets’ defense for 245 yards. Meanwhile, the Jets’ Mark Sanchez passed for only 103 yards having one of the worst games of his career.
Some are saying that Tim Tebow would have been a lot better and would have given the Jets more of a chance to beat San Francisco had he started. I disagree. It wouldn’t have truly mattered because the 49ers were going to make the Jets pay this week.
Who should start at quarterback for the Jets next week? Who cares!
Oakland Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden has announced he is moving from his hometown of Stockton, Calif. last week after his grandmother was robbed. Braden went ballistic at a town hall meeting on Wednesday in Stockton carrying a bat, berating the police chief for not doing enough to keep citizens safe. Stockton recently had it’s 50th homicide of the year last week.Braden says the bat he carried was a symbol of how bad things have become.
“Arm yourself or get out,” Braden said in an interview with KOVR in Sacramento. “It’s the wild west and the boys in blue, they’re outgunned. My anger is for fear for our community. … I’ve already put my home on the market here. I’m out.”
I’ve never been a fan of this guy in the slightest myself. I personally think he’s an asshole and is probably the worst of all 23 pitchers to ever throw a perfect game. Having said that, I understand his frustration with his hometown and the increasing violence occurring there. I won’t say I can relate to what is going on because I’ve lived in very safe areas the last 24 years of my life (I did live in South Sacramento the first six years, but it wasn’t as bad as it is now).
If Braden does decide to stay, I hope he can be someone who does everything he can to make Stockton a more positive place.
I’d like to thank Jay-Z and the Brooklyn Nets for robbing me of the opportunity of properly reviewing their new uniforms.
Friday was supposed to be the day the Nets unveiled their Oreo cookie colored uniforms to Brooklyn and the world. Usually at a uniform unveiling they will have a couple players model the team’s new look. Instead we get Jay-Z wearing the away jersey of the team obscured by chains.
This is not the way you unveil a uniform,Jay. Haven’t you owned an NBA team before? I get that he’s probably doing it the way he did it to be “different”, but how is someone like me who wants to review them and has been waiting a while to do so, going to get a good look at them when you’ve got a bunch of bling around the number and also what do the shorts look like?
Jay-Z has no doubt failed big time with this and should re-take the course on how to unveil your team’s new uniforms. Just sayin…
Memo to Mother Nature: It’s October 1st. It should not be 100 degrees in Sacramento. Ever.
I’ve been in this area 30 years now and the only time I can maybe remember it being this warm so late in the year was 1990. Other than that it usually cools down around now, not this year. September gave the Sacramento over 20 days of 90 degrees or above, and I’m sick of it.
It’s fall now, I was done with summer around August to be honest. I keep looking at the sweatshirts in my closet, the beanies and the scarf in my dresser dreaming about when I’ll get to wear those items again. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to be anytime soon and by the way, I’m sick of the weather people teasing by putting 80 degree temperatures on the extended forecast when it never happens. Get it right,yo!
By the way, you can catch me and my friend DJ Mappquest on Sports Madness, this Tuesday from 6-7pm Pacific Time on kssu.com, Sacramento State Student Radio.
